1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this document is to define the circumstances under which permission and access changes may be made to folders residing on the Broad School file storage server system.
2.0 Scope
All Broad accounts on all mail, web, and file servers.
3.0 Policy
Changes to a user folder will only be made with the owner’s consent. A folder owner may assign permissions to other users. If there are sub-folders beneath the parent folder, permissions must be assigned folder by folder. If you are giving permission to others to use a folder, please specify whether or not that user is to receive access to those folders beneath the parent. Permission changes must be made in writing by submitting a ticket at the
, or stop by the Network Resource Center, room 5, Eppley Center.
If the information owner is no longer an employee of Michigan State University, and the information needed is deemed to be vital to the business operations of the department, a request must be made in writing by the department head requesting access to specific files or folders.
4.0 Enforcement
If a permission form is not submitted then access to employee personal data will be limited to the employee.
